Slurry Seal

Slurry Seal is a material designed to apply a new wear surface to roads. It is a guard against water intrusion, UV deterioration and traffic damage. Slurry Seal is a unique material in that it is mixed onsite whereas other material is pre-made and transported to the job site.

A special gradation of sand is loaded into the truck. Asphalt emulsion oil is loaded into a tank on the truck. Water is also loaded into a tank on the truck. In specified quantities, these products are mixed together and dispensed from the back of the truck.

After the materials are mixed in the pugmill and dispensed, it falls into a spreader box that spreads the material one stone depth thick. This gives the asphalt a uniform coating over the entire surface.
